Lastly, how ripe would this laptop be for pulling windows off of it and installing Linux/Ubuntu? I'm confident I could put together a solid and straight-forward enough build for my friend to use, but I don't wanna start the process if it isn't going to be a performance improvement over Windows 10.Īll in all it is obviously a machine with limitations (and the price point to match). If anyone knows specifically, please let me know. It comes with 2 gigs, some sources report it is expandable to only 4, other say up to 8. I have found conflicting reports on what the ram can be upgraded to. Does this mean this laptop really is limited to ~5 gigs of useable storage? Is there a workaround to install additional internal storage? I opened up the access panel to see if I could simply swap the hard drive with a larger one I have laying around, but apparently this particular model has no HD (as opposed to much of the rest of the 3000 series which comes with either 250g or 500g), instead it apparently works off of internal solid-state storage (which would explain the extremely limited storage space). I'm just looking for some confirmations, corrections, clarifications, etc on what I've found out by going through it first hand:įirstly, the computer lists itself as having only ~25 gigs of space total, nearly 20 of which is taken up by Windows and its recovery storage. I have found a wealth of information about a ton of different releases/models within the 3000 series, but very little that relates to this exact build. A friend just bought a Dell Inspiseries with Windows 10, and I have a question or two about it.
